The following passages are ones that I came across recently in some old folders of mine. They were written during one of my lowest points in life, yet they hold such awe and appreciation. They were written in moments of contemplation, moments of observation, moments of thought. They speak for themselves.
"I will focus on the beauty of simplicity. Sitting in a coffee shop, watching. Sitting on my futon, breathing. Laying on a huge pillow, reading. Sitting on the boardwalk, watching the way the cattails sway back and forth in the gentle wind. It truly is serene beyond words. It brings a bit of melancholia with it for some reason. But that's ok. It really is. Sometimes life is melancholic. Actually most of the time it is."
"Mornings have a sort of muted tranquility that cannot be found any place else"
"Lucille takes a break from vacuuming to reflect quietly on the bustling world outside the window. After a minute or two, she blinks and continues to clean."
"Everyday, I go for a walk outside. The contrast of the spring green against the blue, or sometimes gray, sky is unlike any other contrast I have seen. I feel at peace when I look at it. I feel connected to God, aware that such beauty cannot exist accidentally or by chance. There is divinity in simplicity. The quiet moments sitting in contemplation. The sound of birds chirping. The gentle blow of the train whistle in the distance. The smell of coffee. The ability to think freely."
